Representatives of the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency, the Belgian Customs and Excise Administration, Liege Airport, Alibaba Group, Deloitte and other experts held an online workshop on June 18th, to introduce the EU e-commerce VAT reforms and related services. More than 270 e-commerce and logistics companies attended the workshop.

Werner Rens, Advisor-General of the Belgian Customs and Excise Administration mentioned that Belgian Customs has upgraded its customs declaration systems and proactively approached e-commerce companies to inform and provide support for implementation of the new rules.

A representative from Alibaba Group introduced the eWTP cooperation with Belgium, as well as a new service launched in May to assist merchants using Belgium as a regional hub for trade with Europe. The new service lowers administrative and cash-flow burdens on e-commerce SMEs and helps them to adapt to the VAT reforms which go into effect on July 1, 2021.
