Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce and Alibaba will be collaborating, through the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) initiative, to directly promote Cambodian products in the China market, as well as worldwide.
Cham Nimul, Cambodia's Commerce Minister, and Wen Jia, President of Public Affairs at Alibaba, signed an MoU on Oct 17th, 2023 to mark the beginning of the collaboration.
“The partnership will not only promote the sales of Cambodian products in the Chinese market but will also potentially boost e-commerce, as Alibaba currently has roughly 1.3 billion active consumers worldwide,” Wen Jia told Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Currently, Cambodian products such as milled rice, pepper, and longan are already sold through Alibaba's platforms.
Prime Minister Manet expressed his appreciation for Alibaba’s efforts in making Cambodian products and services available to the global market.
“Alibaba has advantages and capabilities in e-commerce platforms and talent empowerment,” Prime Minister Hun said. The eWTP partnership brings “more opportunities to Cambodian young people, entrepreneurs, farmers to participate in global trade, stimulate more innovation, and jointly promote the development of Cambodia’s digital economy,” he added.
